What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover) as well as personal checks backed up by a credit card. Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash.
When is payment due?

Payment is due at the time of the pick-up appointment. If we received your payment information online your credit card will not be charged until the day we pick up your belongings.

Yes. Our warehouse facility is climate controlled throughout the year.
Do you offer extended storage?

Yes. Big Red Shipping & Storage can meet your long-term storage needs. Whether you are going away for a semester or for a whole year, we can arrange storage.

How does the shipping process work?

Big Red Shipping & Storage is a UPS Authorized Shipping Outlet as well as a FedEx ShipCenter. We offer shipping services around the globe through these companies.
How are shipping prices calculated?

Shipping prices are calculated based on the dimensions (length, width, height) of what is being shipped, the weight, and the zip code to which it is being shipped. As a result, we can't estimate shipping charges without these pieces of information.
What can I ship?

Boxes, luggage, and trunks can be shipped, while desks and furniture cannot.

| Counter Service |

Why is the price different for counter service?
-
Our counter service is a more economical option for our customers who don't mind bringing their storage and shipping items to one of 4 centrally located BRSS service counters. Counters are located at RPCC, Appel, Noyes, and 409 College Ave.
What days and hours are the counters open?

Service counters are open during May peak, normally a week and a half before the last day of finals. They operate from 10:00am-6:00pm.

| Pickups and Deliveries |

How far in advance do I need to set up an appointment?
-
You can schedule an appointment online up to 48 hours prior to the day you need an appointment. If after this window, please call our office (607-272-2000 x 222) and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Do you pick -up and deliver Off Campus?

Big Red Shipping & Storage can pick-up your goods directly from your residence, whether you live on or off-campus. All deliveries will also be back to your door.
Do I have to be present for my appointment?
-
We ask that you do remain in your room for your allotted two hour time slot. At the time of the appointment, we will need you to provide an authorization signature as well as take a copy of your receipt.
Do I need to put labels on my boxes?
-
It is not necessary that you put labels on your boxes. Our movers will place a label on each of your items during the time of your pickup.
How do storage drop-offs work?
- Off-campus: If you need to have your belongings delivered back to you at an off-campus residence, then you can sign up for a delivery appointment online under the personal account you used to sign up for a pick up time.

| Insurance |

What type of insurance policy does Big Red Shipping & Storage offer?
For storage:
- There is no "per box" insurance valuation limit
- In case of damage and/or loss of items, BRSS insures the depreciated cost (a k a "actual cash value") of the damaged and/or lost item. Actual cash value is defined as the cost to replace the damaged item(s) new, with like kind and quality, less allowable use, wear and/or age depreciation. BRSS does not insure the full replacement cost of a damaged and/or lost items
- Prohibited items (see packing guide) are not be insured by BRSS
- Items previously damaged or repaired are not be insured by BRSS
- External packaging (i.e., boxes, plastic storage containers, luggage, etc.) is not be insured by BRSS
For shipping:
- UPS automatically insures each individual box up to $100. Additional insurance can be purchased from UPS; each additional $100 of insurance costs $1.00. (Example: to insure a box at $600, an additional charge of $5 applies)
